Our Story

At J&J Galloway Farm, Family means everything to us so we wanted to introduce ourselves and show you the reason why we do what we do. Everything we do always starts at home and though we’re just a Small Business, we’re a Small Business with a Big Heart! And our family grows with the Neighbors we meet along the way.

We are the Galloway’s, Jessie, Jenise and our rambunctious son Atlas!

Our Inspiration to start our Urban farm came from a very special man that I had in my young life and I wanted to carry on his legacy and beliefs with us as we grew. Growing up my grandfather, William H. Galloway fought for our country and sacrificed most of his young and adult life until receiving an honorary purple heart later in his years. After having lived through the great depression and going to war, he set out to teach his children and grandchildren values that we’ll never forget. He brought us up to have open and giving hearts, to grow and produce a natural and simpler living for ourselves, our families, people in need and our neighbors. He taught us how to garden, grow and harvest produce and take care of animals. The idea was to spend as much time as possible with his family while still being able to invest so much of himself into the soil he fought for and the people he surrounded himself with far and wide.

With this we started farming purely out of the need for a simpler way of living and sticking to our roots during a very difficult time in our surrounding communities as the pandemic grew. We too wanted to teach our children to live off of what they have grown. We wanted to teach our children the benefits of getting dirt under their fingernails and harvesting in a respectful, appreciative way. We wanted them to learn that driving to a grocery store is not always going to be sustainable, and that we must know how to grow and harvest our own sustenance. After spending a year farming and helping our community during the national shut downs, we decided to take a bigger step and work towards producing more than what our household would consume. It isn’t because we are hoping to be any sort of competition, but to offer more in terms of classes, to offer our abundance to those in need, to have extra to sell at our local farmer’s market, and to have more for our growing family.

We do what we do because at the end of the day, we want to bring a reliable source of sustenance to our community with the comfortability of feeling like home.

Don’t be afraid to get dirt under your fingernails, to get your children involved too, and be a part of a change that is needed in today’s society. Work hard, play hard; But most of all, cherish the little family moments & cherish your neighbors.

Meet Our Animals

Here at J&J Galloway Farms, we pride ourselves in the safety and well-being of our animals.

They’re just like family just a little furry, feathery or scaly.

Peter Rabbit:

Peter Rabbit came to us by chance, he was stopping by nightly in the front yard and looked to have been lost.

After asking around to see if he belonged to anyone and relentlessly trying to catch him for a good two solid months. Jessie caught him one night as myself and our son watched quietly from our front room and celebrated excitedly! Our son chose to name him immediately and he’s been apart of the family ever since. He loves cuddles, nose scratchies, eating peeled apple slices and chewing on his favorite toys.
